I’m a Jew-ish, neurotic, pot-smoking, constantly-in-analysis comedian. And I know that in the United States, or in Britain, that might sound like a cliché, but in Sweden I’m a unicorn.
My work tends to focus on shock comedy and political satire of the contrarian stance. And if that sounds pretentious, just wait till you meet me.
My own policy for the world is easily summed up in three points: legalise drugs, abolish state surveillance, and colonise space. Abolishing state surveillance is important because smoking pot always makes me paranoid, and also, it’s hard to convince people that we need to colonise space unless they’re high on drugs. So, as you can see, it’s all connected.
I sometimes like people on an individual basis, but I’m not too fond of humanity as a whole. That being said – I prefer it to all other species. It wasn’t my choice. Team humanity picked me – and I’ll play as best I can.
Neither left nor right. I believe the modern left has forgotten that people should be judged on “the content of their character rather than the color of their skin”, their gender, or other biological, cultural, and/or, for that matter, economic factors. Not that they don’t matter, but I think it’s better that we judge people on their individual flaws rather than the flaws of their heritage. Living in a socialist country, these views tend to make you lonely.
And even though I might have a conservative moralist inside me; I realize that tradition is nothing but a comfort blanket for the weak in an ever-changing world.
As I see it there is no safety anywhere and that beneath the thin veil of civilization our lives are, in the words of Thomas Hobbes: “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.”
Or as I would put it – we’re always just one power failure from The Walking Dead.
So we might as well colonize space. Not that we wouldn’t fuck up. We would. We always do. But at least it’s a new mistake. Since the definition of insanity, and stupidity, is to repeat the same mistake over and over and expect a different result I think new mistakes are the best we can do. Leaders offer their populations nationalism only when they have nothing else to offer and I think we, as a species, have already tried that route and know where it leads. So instead of fucking up the planet – let’s go to space – and fuck that up instead!
