Therese Bohman

was @sweden 2012-08-13 to 2012-08-19

Hi! I am Therese Bohman, 33, living in Stockholm. I work as an editor at the monthly magazine Axess, and I am also an art critic for the newspaper Expressen, and a freelance writer on art, literature and fashion.

Two years ago, my debut novel Drowned was released in Sweden. Since then, it has been published in France, Germany, Holland, Australia, New Zeeland and the US. It was actually recommended on Oprah Winfrey's book club, which still feels a bit unreal.

I am working on novel no 2, but it seems to be taking me a while. (The first one took me about eight years. But holding that pace, I am still faster than Donna Tartt.) I grew up in Kolmården, a small village about 150 km south of Stockholm, mostly famous for its zoo, where they have lots of exotic animals walking around in the pine forest. I went to the zoo all the time when I was a child, and I am still very fond of animals.

Nowadays, however, I also like them dead and taxidermied, hanging on my walls. I am interested in art and literature, in fashion and flowers and all things beautiful. I collect images of beautiful things on my Pinterest (Warning! Contains nudity!) Normally, I tweet as @theresebohman.

@sweden Aug. 19, 2012, 7:52 p.m.

In Sweden, people love their shellfish! They can go on and on about a shrimp sandwich.

@sweden Aug. 19, 2012, 7:47 p.m.

When I was younger I used to sit by the table eating a hot dog instead. That does however feel a bit weird when you're my age.

@sweden Aug. 19, 2012, 7:44 p.m.

Since I am allergic to shellfish, I feel totally excluded from this tradition.

@sweden Aug. 19, 2012, 7:44 p.m.

Judging from my Facebook and Instagram feeds, lots of Swedes seem to have spent this weekend eating crayfish. It's a big thing in Sweden.

You can see this in the perspectives, and on the strong outlines.

@sweden Aug. 15, 2012, 3:40 p.m.

It has been on tv for every summer like forever. Swedes obviously love singing together.
